If you visit the South-west “Sierra” of Madrid, you must past San Martin de Valdeiglesias and Cadalso de los Vidrios to arrive to Cenicientos. This small village, populated of 2000 people, has an strategic situation between the provinces of Madrid, Toledo and Ávila, with almost the same distance (80km) from its capitals. Here you will enjoy three different aspects of travel: nature, gastronomy and feasts. For you like quietly walking through soft mountain paths, you could ascend to the “Peña Buvera”(1250mt) and from its top see the longest views of Gredos’ crests, the Toledo’s plain and Madrid sky-scrapers. There you could breathe the pine-tree perfumated purest air, but you must wear a warm coat in winter. As well you should walk towards the near village “Almorox” and turn to the right to find in the middle of a vineyard the monolithic monument called “Piedra Escrita” (Written Stone). This is a big sculpted altar with roman origins. Anyway, if you visit our village in summer you should try its bull-fightings in the “patronal “ festivities (This village is Known as “The Terror Valley” for the big bulls in its “corridas”). You must also hear and see the local folk-music group called “Raíces” (Roots) singing and dancing amazing “jotas” and “seguidillas” with their typical dresses and musical instruments during the Folk-music Summer Festival in early august. In October you could enjoy the Vintage Feast participating in the grape-treading contest against the three local “peñas” (fling groupies) called “Atalajacalarreja”, “Fuerte Movida” and “Los que faltaban”. At any time you must try our famous tasty and strong wines: red, rosé and white. There are two wineries in the village and one of them makes ecological wines. But you must be careful with drinking, because the wine is between 15º-17º. (We like you enjoy but not too much). In any case, you’ll be welcome in our village at any season you visit us. Let’s come!
